I enjoy shopping at Dollar Tree. Everything’s a dollar – so it’s in my price range – and the entire store is like a huge grab bag. I always find something neat and new when I go in there.
Here are some awesome things to pick up while you’re there:
1. Glasses, plates, and bowls
I’ve truly been surprised at what I found here. I expected plastic plates and bowls – and you can definitely pick up some of those too – but I’ve also found beautiful heavy glass bowls. It’s worth a trip down this aisle just to see if you like something.
This is great for anyone with a lot of pictures. You can decorate an entire wall pretty cheaply. The black frames look great. And given the high price of frames, these are a great option.
You can usually find fiction and non-fiction books.
4. Cleaning supplies
I never would have thought to look for cleaning supplies at a dollar store, but Dollar Tree has them. They have name brands and off-brands, and the nice part is that cleaning supplies don’t expire.
5. Pens, paper, pencils, and scissors
You ever notice how pens are like socks, and they just kind of come and go in your life? Wait, it’s just me? Mmm’kay.
6. Holiday Decorations
This is one of the parts I like best. They usually have lots of cute stuff, and it’s nice to know that it’s all affordable too.
7. Artificial Flowers
Artifiicial flowers are normally so expensive, so it’s great to find these in a dollar store.
Like the bowls, some of these will be plastic, and some will be glass. Some really pretty finds here.
9. Glass beads
You know those glass ovals that people put in vases or glassware? The ones that are usually so expensive? Ha! This is how to actually afford them.
10. Party supplies
Including paper plates, napkins, and utensils.
11. Coloring books
If your kids go through coloring books like they’re potato chips, then pick up some at Dollar Tree for cheap.
There are a lot of puzzles to choose from. Great for a rainy or snowy day!
13. Snacks and Soup
I save the snacks and soup for last since they’re right by the cash register. These include name brands. I’ve found soup that’s normally $2-3 for a can for only $1 here. Just be sure to check expiration dates – and that counts for any store. I’ve come across expired food at a large grocery chains before, so it can happen anywhere.
Dollar Tree and dollar stores in general now have a surprising number of great items at good prices. If you want to save money, check out some of the stores in your area.
